Dyeing my hair ends a bright red?

I'm Asian and have black hair, but I had highlights put in my hair just this December. They're golden brown but I don't wanna bother touching them again. They're sorta fading out by now.

For this summer, I want to have my hair ends dyed in a bright punk red and just have it cut off or something when school starts.

Will it look good?

Yes, I've seen this on others and it looks amazing. I'd try to cover the faded high lights though as I've only seen this look on hair that is glossy jet black.
