That said, you can purchase hair color stripper products in the hair products aisle at your grocery store, department store, Target, Wal Mart, etc. That will not turn your hair back to its natural color, but it will make it possible for you to dye it a different color afterwards.

When I went from dark brown to light blonde, the color stripper took out the dark brown and left my hair looking orange. Okay, that was a little creepy - but then I dyed it with the blonde color I'd picked at the store. The blonde dye took with no problems and it looked great.

Go to a professional color specialist. Anytime you want to go change dyed hair, or go from dark hair to light hair, you really should seek a stylist's assistance. You could end up damaging your hair or ending up with a very unfortunate color! :-) (Been there, done that.. :-) ..)

Most likley it will turn orange just because of the undertones and the natural color process. #1 you should go to a pro and let them take on this job because it could be a big one. #2 go in expecting them to tell you that it will take more than one visit cause most likley it will. My suggestion would be to go into a shop and have them do a patch test. Tell them that specifically. Show them pictures of the color you want and see if they can do it for you. If they dont sound confidant or dont sound like they know what they are doing move on. Also you might want to ask for a colorist as opposed to a stylist because colorist perfect the use of color. They will most likley have the best solution for you...

Actually, just last night I saw a "hair color remover" in the same department as the hair coloring dyes. I don't recall the brand name but, look toward the top shelves. Be careful to follow the label directions though. It cost about the same as a hair color.

most colorists (including mine) will tell you that it's not a good idea, but be stubborn. you know what you want, but just realize that it's your risk tha tyour hair may be permenently damaged.

read the risks, and basically do your homework so that you know what you're getting into.
