Is there anything you can purchase at the store to take red out of your hair?

I colored my hair and I like it but it has a slight red tint, any way of getting out the red without re-coloring it?

Hey, im a nearly qualified hair stylist and you can buy boxes of COLOUR STRIPPER in chemists. You need to read the boxes carefully as some of them will strip all un natural colour but other state which colours they strip out. An easier option is colour neutraliser. They also state which colours they neutralise so choose one which neutralises red tones. I honestly think the best way to do it is to go to a salon and have it done because A)they know what they are doing and how to do it properly) and B) You are likely to strip colour you dont want stripping xx good luck xx

Well, washing over time will cause your colour to fade. The down side to red tones is they are the quickest to fade...but the hardest to get rid of completely.......the best thing to do is go to a professional, they know what they are doing!!! An ash tones will get rid of any unwanted red.

Get an ash color level one rinse. Clairol makes one-loving care. This is basically food coloring for your hair that washes out after 8 washes. It does not have ammonia or peroxide. It will not take out all of the red but will tone it down. Make sure you get one that is the right darkness. If it is too light a shade for your hair, it will do nothing.
