Colored my hair red tured gray. What can I do!?
I am a colorist and there had to have been some ash bases in that color for it to turn gray. At this point, you have two options...go to a hairdresser and let them fix it for you, or attempt it on your own. I would get another bottle of dye, make sure there is no beige or ash bases on it (they'll say Medium Ash Blonde, Dark Beige Brown, etc...) You cannot take it lighter, as color will not lift color, but maybe you can even out the tones. If you were trying to get brown with plum tones I would get a medium natural brown and cover on top of what you have already. It may look dark afterwards, but it will fade out fast. Hopefully it'll be enough that the grey will not come back through. I really do recommend letting a hairdresser fix this though, these can be tricky. I am wondering how a warm color as a plum brown could turn out gray? That is a stumper...I bet they'll say that too. If you kept the box and bottle, see if the numbers and name match on both. Sometimes hair dyes get switched out of their original boxes. I always check mine.

I've never heard of anything like that in all my years. There may have been the wrong color in the bottle.
Go to a different store, buy a different brand of a simple medium brown or medium golden brown. Dump it on. This should do the trick.
If no luck, see a stylist.

you need to go to a salon to have it stripped. you may be tempted to do it yourself at home-don't. i'm sure you don't want to chance your hair burning or falling out. stripping your hair sucks all the color out, so it can be really hard on your hair. at a salon they will be able to help you!

i know the hair stylist can be costly, but you need to get there fast! don't try to fix it yourself.

Please don't do anything more to your hair by yourself. Go to a professional. As a stylist I can tell you that you have now made the cross over to hair color correction. Why would you want to walk around with messed up color again? There are too many things that can go wrong for you at this point. Believe me. I have had to deal with this with clients. They are never sorry they spent that money on the right way to color their hair. Besides you might get some tips on your hair from your stylist. Plum has a violet base and therefore has turned the blonde... gray. It has already absorbed into the cuticle of the hair and will likely come back over and over as it fades. BEST THING is to go to a stylist or colorist that knows what they are doing.

your in trouble. I've never seen such a thing. Its grey? amazing. Seriously, it may be because you didn't process long enough. You aren't a natural so your ends are damaged and when you applied this dark color your hair didn't absorb it. You have a turning point with damaged hair. First stage it takes color in too fast, but once you reach a no pigmant point you end up with hair that can not take in any color, its drained. Thus i guess leaving you grey. I've seen it happen with pinks, pale pink is all hair takes, pastel baby blues, which may appear grey to you. I'm guessing, and this is only a guess, but this is what i believe you have going on there. If this is so, and again i believe it must be, how else could this happen....you really need a professional because your ends need to be filled. Filled with copper. And then colored again. Please do not try to fix this on your own. You can't fix this on your own. If i'm correct and your not naturally a either, i'm sure this is the issue. Try this site, www.goldwellusa.com and find the salon locator this will get you a professional stylist in your area that is certified in goldwell color one of the leading hair colors in the world right now. Best of luck
