Well i have dark brown hair with red streaks myself and this is what i did, and my hair was fine!!

I pre-ligtened my hair with bleach, yet i didn't strip all the colour away, only left the bleach in for like 15min to lighten the hair, then washed it out, dried it again and went over the lightened hair with the red colour.

You'l find that you will have to re-do the red every couple of weeks/months as it will fade and go a rusty colour.

But you will need professional help to make you sure you have the correct colour and developer!

You might want to ask a professional. Bleaching really damages hair and red tints are harsh on hair as well. It's best to ask a colorist befroe doing it yourself otherwise you risk ruining your hair.

im not sure. that is a lot of treatment on your hair. if you must do the color yourself, you should do something not as drastic, because although your idea sounds great, it should be carried out by a professional.
