Bleaching Black hair then dyeing red question?

I have jet black hair, I want to bleach some of it as in streaks and then dye those streaks red. What can I do to reduce damage %26amp; get the streaks blonde not orange so I can dye them bright red after?

What is the best way to do this? If I want to dye my hair black in the future and get rid of the streaks will the black stay or fade?

They sell kits that bleach %26amp; highlight in one step. I have used them and found that they work very well. Also, if you are bleaching and then dying it is not as important that your hair bleach to a white color- the red will cover any orangey tones. I like Manic Panic from Sally Beauty Supply (they have bleaching kits and dye). When you try to cover the streaks use a Semi-Permanent black (again, you can use Manic Panic) to cover the red...but as it washes out the red will show through. Good Luck!

it's a process that you'll have to keep doing for a couple of weeks, if you really wanna try to reduce damage. bleach it wait 5 days, do it again...

If you bleach your black hair and then go red, you will certainly sustain some damage, but just doing a few streaks will help lessen the overall damage. It doesn't matter if the blonde goes orange because you're dying it red anyway.

You should try 'Fudge' if you can get it because you don't have to bleach first. It gives a really vibrant red colour. You should be able to get it at a good chemist (drugstore).

Also when you dye it black again your highlights will fade through the black after a few weeks. You will need to keep up the black dyes until your hair grows out. I've done it a few times. Have fun mixing it up!

the best way is to do it in stages - I had my color stripped. I think the stylist used the 40 developer. My hair was white and I'm a Af Am. I was expecting it to turn out the same color as my skin. then she dyed it auburn. It was the color straight from the bottle. i actually didn't want mine that bright. I ended up rinsing a cognac color over it to tone it down. anyway my hair was really damaged afterwards. I had to get a couple of inches cut off . I started getting protein and deep conditioning treatments and I was fine. But if you have fragile hair don't use the 40 strength. i think my hair is pretty strong and I still had damage. however for what you want you may just have to go with the 40 and deep condition regularly

Ok, ..

If your wanting RED streaks, bleaching jet black hair to blond then to Red, "unprofessionally" is a tad risky...The product to do so, over the counter, can totally FRY not only your hair, but your scalp, and burn!!! My suggestion is this. when you take a hair coloring solution, such as Clairol or any "name that's been around a long time" product, when you go to a lighter shade on black hair, it will turn it red! Now, depending on the red your wanting.....You can look at all the different Red's they have and there are some pretty brassy red's to choose from..(not Orange)...Instead of using a harsh bleaching product, then coloring on top of that. You can take a "hair coloring" product, and streak it on your hair. If you screw up, THAT can be re colored the next day without problems. Clairol is about $3.00 a box and has been around longer then I can remember.....If your wanting "Crayon Red", like you see some people have, more then likely they have had that professionally done......

OK so you want to bleach your hair

(if you have a Sally's beauty store go there and ask)

any why bleach it then Waite a few days so it can heal some

then get a good Strong red and die it after that use gentle shampoos (i think theres color protective shampoo)

then i know this sounds weird but vinegar will help lock in the color just poor some in and rinse it out and i think that will do it

Hey I'm doing the same thing so this is what I know:

okay you want to ask the person at the store to tell you what kind of bleach you want to use (there are a lot of different kinds for different hairtypes)

wait like 3 or 4 days (after) bleaching your hair before dieing it cause you want to condition really well to prevent damage.

i dont know what else you really need to know but if you have anymore questions email me and i will try to answer them =)

i'm getting good with hair cause i'v died mine like 12 or 13 times in the past 2 years!

I'm addicted =)

Bleaching Black hair then dyeing red question?

i did this EXACt same thign with my friend's hair! And after bleaching it make sure that you leave in some condishiner to keep you hair from damageing it!

But also what you can do instead of bleaching your hair you can put in REALLY blonde hair die (permadent) or white. than do what the directions say for that. Than wait a day or 2. and put a ur red hair die and do that!

if you have anymore questions just eamil me!
