Used henna on my hair and has turned it a medium to med-light red how do i fix this??

I used Red sunset by Colora, its a powdered henna and i have used this color before but when i had light to medium brown hair so it turned out great. Maybe around the winter time i but Mahogany henna creme in my hair and it still hadnt come out so i wanted to lighten the color of my hair a bit but its more on the red side then what i would have liked so i had bought another box of henna this time Gold brown thinking this might tone down the red and give me more of a light brown with just a red highlight.

So the question is would the gold brown turn my hair even more red or will it give me the more light brown to medium brown i would like for my hair?

Hi there!

Well first I would rather recommend that you use 100% natural products rather then these blends you have been using as you will be able to measure out exactly what you want to achieve and get a better color that you want. All these pre-mixed boxed of henna powders and colors are all blends of henna with other ingredients so it's hard to tell what color you will get.

First make sure you always use body art quality henna powder. Henna for sure will make your hair red as in the first picture you showed us of that color. That is normal. For a lighter shade you will need cassia obovata (sometimes called neutral henna) and add some honey as that is a natural hair lightener.

Also visit www.longhaircommunity.com and go read the henna articles and go to the henna thread. It is amazing! You will be really happy.

Some of the girls there use some henna, some cassia and make a nice lighter color with some honey as well.

I hope this helps. Feel free to PM if you'd like

it will make your hair redder...the only color that comes from real natural henna is red, the more henna you put on your hair the redder it will become because it will enhance the henna that is already on your hair

just remember that dye does not lift dye so you may have to bleach to left the color and then buy a color that on the side where you see this is your hair color and this is your color after wards....look at that no matter what color you pick and make sure it can be used by light brown or darker hair so that it will tone down the red
